Surface Monitoring

Monitor fracture activity to optimize stimulation effectiveness

Surface microseismic monitoring is a cost-effective, industry-accepted application, for understanding hydraulic stimulation effects on a reservoir. Based on seismology-accepted methods of positioning events relative to a known “master event,” Magnitude’s proprietary waveform inversion process provides highly reliable positioning of detections.

The wide surface coverage of Magnitude’s array designs provides the aperture required for accurate event location over the entire extent of the treatment wells with no directional bias. In addition to the standard borehole deliverables, all surface surveys provide moment tensor information describing the geomechanical properties and in-situ stress regime of the stimulated formation.

Magnitude’s unique approach provides a moment tensor solution for all detections, and gives you access to the full range of the quality control (QC) and uncertainty qualification processes for both positioning and focal mechanism solutions.

Magnitude surface monitoring results can be available in real time, daily fast-track, or post-acquisition processing depending on your requirements.

Based on its strong field experience and dedicated team, Magnitude configures standard 3D seismic single- and multi-component equipment to ensure maximum data quality with no loss of information during the entire monitoring process, ensuring you that 100% of the stimulation is being monitored.
